It has caused a lot of frustration among VPN users as they experience that the speed of their Internet connection is slowing down a lot after connecting to all sorts of VPN servers. This is caused by VPN servers that are overused (and lagged) or simply because the VPN provider has rented cheap servers somewhere with low speeds available even before someone started to use them. But, what’s up with Surfshark in June 2022? We have just tested some of their servers and we were surprised by the results.
We have done quite a lot of SurfsharkVPN tests earlier, and we have clearly seen a positive curve showing us that they are getting better and better. But, we got lazy during COVID, meaning that we haven’t done any Surfshark speed test for nearly two years. In other words, it was time to test whether the Surfshark servers will slow you down in 2022 or not.

The results of the SurfsharkVPN speed test in June 2022.
During our test, we first tested our initial download speed. This is important to know as it gives us something to compare with when testing Surfshark.
- Our initial download speed: 94 Mbps
It is important to understand that you can stream content on Netflix with a speed of 3 Mbps. But, if you want to stream a 4K movie on Netflix, you need an Internet connection providing you with a download speed of 25 Mbps. With our initial speed, we can easily stream any content online and it is also suitable for downloading larger files from the Internet (or torrenting activities).
After we found our initial downloading speed, we decided to connect to four different servers. The first server was the one we were connected to automatically as we clicked the “fastest server” option in the application. The three remaining servers were located in Canada, the United Kingdom, and in the United States.

- Fastest server (Hungary): 91 Mbps
- Canada: 86 Mbps
- United Kingdom: 92 Mbps
- United States: 83 Mbps
If you take a look at these results, you will probably agree that these are extraordinary results. The differences are minor and they will not cause any significant difference when it comes to the experience you have surfing the Internet, streaming movies, and downloading large files.
We were positively surprised by these results, and we are happy to see that Surfshark has turned into a leading VPN provider, not only when it comes to unblocking streaming sites, but also when it comes to providing its users with fast servers.
