I didn’t know anything about The Highwaymen before I sat down to watch the movie. I read the Netflix description and understood that it had something to do with Bonnie and Clyde. I also noticed that Woody Harrelson had a role in the movie and that immediately grabbed my attention. I am a big fan of Woody Harrelson, and I love every single movie he is in, almost! He is a big favorite of mine in the “Now You See Me” movies, he was brilliant in The Hunger Games movies, he was extraordinary in Three Billboards outside Ebbing, and the list could go on. So, Woody Harrelson did his job of bringing me to the screen in order to watch The Highwaymen.
But, let me tell you that it came as a great surprise when Kevin Costner showed up on the screen. I hadn’t looked through the list of actors, so I just had a feeling that I knew this guy from somewhere, and I had a feeling it was Kevin Costner. A quick look-up confirmed my suspicion, and I quickly enjoyed the company of both Costner and Harrelson playing the roles of two Texas Rangers (or Highwaymen) out there to catch Bonnie and Clyde who has just gone crazy and killed several cops and other innocent people.
What makes The Highwaymen such a great movie?
I will not spoil the story here, but this movie has one big advantage – it is based on real history. And I always love when a movie makes me want to look up information on Wikipedia while watching it. In the end of the movie, we even get to see footage from real life, and after watching it, I still wanted to read more about the story of the movie (based on real life) on Wikipedia and other platforms. And I have got to say it again, I love it when a movie has that effect on me. It makes me want to learn more about a certain topic, and The Highwaymen for sure had such an effect on me.
The movie in itself is well made, and both Costner and Harrelson are great in their roles. They manage to keep the attention of the viewers throughout the entire movie, and I just got to say that this is amazing action and drama that can be recommended with no trouble at all.

As I mentioned, The Highwaymen is a Netflix original production. This means you can watch the movie in every single Netflix region on the earth. You can watch it on Canadian Netflix, it can be streamed on American Netflix, you can watch it on Dutch Netflix, and you can watch it in every other country with Netflix available. There are times when you need to change your Netflix region in order to watch a movie, but with The Highwaymen that is not so. Simply visit Netflix.com or open the Netflix application and you are ready to stream The Highwaymen online. And believe me, you will not regret spending two hours of your life watching this movie.
