Which is the fastest VPN in India? Which VPN provider will give you the best download speeds on their Indian servers? The IP Address Guide has taken the challenge and tested quite a lot of VPN providers to find out which is the fastest VPN in India. Take a closer look at the results and the recording of the Indian VPN speed test right here.
I have said it before, but it is easy to simply recommend a VPN provider because of their nice commission, or because it has turned into a habit. But, the fact that it is a habit to always recommend a VPN provider doesn’t make it the best VPN provider for that given purpose. That is why we like to do actual tests in which the results show us which VPN to recommend, and not our own pre-selected answers based on different subjective thoughts and opinions.
That is why we sat down in front of our computer with a 500 Mbps download speed, ready with seven different VPN applications to find out which would give us the best download speeds in India. Are you curious to find out which VPN provider won the test?
The VPN providers tested were IPVanish, PureVPN, ExpressVPN, Cybgerghost VPN, NordVPN, Surfshark VPN, Private VPN, StrongVPN (which couldn’t be tested really since they do not have any servers in India),
The Indian VPN speed test (the results)
Here you can see the download speeds we got using the different VPN providers with servers in India. We connected to random servers in India, meaning that the different VPN providers by default should connect us to their fastest servers.
VPN Provider | Download speed |
IPVanish | 25 Mbps |
PureVPN | 38 Mbps |
ExpressVPN | 5 Mbps |
PrivateVPN | 70 Mbps |
Surfshark VPN | 4 Mbps |
NordVPN | 69 Mbps |
Cybgerghost VPN | didn’t work (probably a temporary error) |
If you take a look at the results above, you will see that there is a giant leap between the fastest and the slowest providers. It might be coincidences here, but it is still interesting to take a look at the results.
It is important to understand that the speed test was made in central Europe. That is why you can see a giant gap comparing the initial speed (before using a VPN) and the download speeds when actually using the VPN. Sending all the traffic through India is giving all the data a giant extra road to take, and this will of course slow down the connection… But, how much?
The winners – PrivateVPN and NordVPN
In this test, there were two VPN providers which gave us by far the best download speeds and those were PrivateVPN and NordVPN. Both providers gave us speeds around 70 Mbps, and they are both ideal if you need an Indian IP address and want to stream Indian networks such as SonyLiv outside India and Premier League football on Hotstar abroad.
NordVPN has a 30-day money back guarantee and can be used on 6 devices simultaneously.
NordVPN is one of the best VPN providers on the market, and we often call it the best VPN if you want to get access to other Netflix regions. They are present in more than 60 nations, and they are constantly upgrading their server park. Included in their VPN client are an anti-virus and anti-malware client, and once you have it running you can surf online knowing that you are protected by their 256-bit AES encryption.
The other winner was the Swedish based VPN provider named PrivateVPN. They are a much newer VPN provider on the market, but they are absolutely brilliant and awesome for those who want to unblock all sorts of websites.
PrivateVPN also has a 30-day money back guarantee making it a very safe investment.
PrivateVPN is one of the fastest VPN providers on the market in general. We have recently written articles about the fastest VPN providers in France, the fastest VPNs in Norway, and also the fastest VPN services in Sweden, and PrivateVPN has ended up in the top three during every single test. That says quite a lot about their magnificent VPN product!
What are these download speeds good for?
If you have a download speed of 70 Mbps you can easily watch all your favorite teams play on Hotstar, or you can watch the latest episode of The Handmaid’s Tale on SonyLIV. With such speeds you can even download files and do lots of other activities, without suffering from buffering and more. But, if you surf the net with a download speed around 4 Mbps, you will not be able to do much before you experience that the streaming stops, and the downloading of files and websites feels super-slow.
It might be coincidence that ExpressVPN was so slow, because normally they are among the best VPN providers on the market (and also the fastest), but during our test, this is the download speeds we got on their Indian servers.
