Many of us are looking for the fastest VPN provider on the market, while others are mort interesting in finding the cheapest VPN provider on the market. But, the most important question isn’t really which is the fastest nor the cheapest VPN provider on the market, but whether the right VPN provider for you is cheap and fast?
What do I mean? You can find free VPN providers on the market, so if the goal is a free VPN, look for one such and download it. But, it will do you no benefit if the free VPN doesn’t work the way you hoped it would. Maybe it is free, but if you want to unblock Canadian Netflix, it will do you no good (since it is blocked). Or maybe your goal is to unblock the BBC in the UK. Who cares if the VPN has fast servers in India when what you need is a VPN that works with BBC in the UK (and has good speeds on their UK servers)?
As a result, you need to find out which VPN supports the functions and streaming services that you need, and then, it is time to find out if it is fast and works well, or if it will take all the fun away with its slow servers.
Does NordVPN support what you need?
NordVPN supports quite a lot of streaming sites and TV networks online. They work well with Disney+, BBC, ITV, Hulu, NBC, Fox, CBS, ZDF; NRK, SVT, and lots of similar sites. They do have some trouble with Amazon Prime, but it works with this service from time to time.
NordVPN has a 30-day refund policy, and one subscription can be used on 6 devices at the same time. They support the most important VPN functions (like split-tunneling and kill-switch), and they also come with cool functions such as VPN with Tor, Double VPN servers, and so much more!
Based on the information above, you should know a bit more already about whether or not NordVPN might be the right VPN provider for you. It should also be said that they are an average priced VPN provider, but if you decide to buy one of their long-term subscription packages, it will suddenly turn into a very cheap VPN provider.
Are you ready for the speed test results now?
Are you still interested in NordVPN? Here you can see a recording showing our NordVPN speed test as of January 2020.
If you don’t want to look through the video, but just simply see the results immediately, keep on reading!
The NordVPN 2020 speed test results
Our initial download speed before using NordVPN was 466 Mbps.
Country | Download speed |
Hungary | 256 Mbps |
Argentina | 0,86/3 Mbps |
Australia | 197 Mbps |
Canada | 234 Mbps |
Germany | 49 Mbps |
UK | 229 Mbps |
USA | 179 Mbps |
If you take a closer look at the results above, you will see that every single server (with the exception of the one in Argentina) gave us speeds capable of streaming everything you need of content online. To stream an Ultra HD 4K movie online, you need about 25 Mbps download speed, while you only need 3 Mbps to stream a normal HD movie on Netflix. In other words, you can stream everything you want with these NordVPN download speeds.
If you plan on download content from torrent sites, the speeds will also be more than enough. You will most likely get way lower download speeds no matter what. That is not because of the VPN, but because the sites/servers that you download from will make the speeds decrease.
In other words, we are very satisfied with these results, and we can warmly recommend NordVPN based on these results. If you want to know more about NordVPN, take a look at our NordVPN review.
