BBC has loads of amazing programs available on-demand, and they also have live-streams of all their channels available. But, if you try to use your mobile device to cast content to your Chromecast abroad, you will not succeed. You will instead get error messages, and quickly discover that you will have no success watching BBC with your Chromecast abroad. The reason is that BBC can only be streamed in the UK, and if you try to watch BBC on your Chromecast abroad, you will get all sorts of error messages.
Or wait… that was until you asked Google what to do, found this article… and soon you will succeed and be able to stream BBC on your Chromecast abroad anyway!
How to watch BBC on Chromecast outside England?
Here are the easy instructions you need to follow to make it work.
- Visit the website of the SmartDNS service named Unlocator.
- Sign up, confirm your email address, and test it for free for seven days.
- Follow their guides on how to setup Unlocator on your router (the one giving out the WiFi signal in your flat/house). If you do not have access to the router it can still work, but it is a bit more complicated. Anyway, follow the instructions on the Unlocator website and ask them for help if you have trouble.
- Once you have setup Unlocator and their DNS servers, make sure that both your mobile device/computer is connected to the same network as the Chromecast.
- You should now be able to watch BBC from abroad on your Chromecast, using the SmartDNS services of Unlocator.
It might seem complicated, but if you have a few tech-skills, it is really easy to set up, and the Unlocator website will give you all the help that you need.
What about the BBC Android applications? Where can I find those?
