Do you have a Netflix subscription? Do you live in the USA, or maybe you follow this method in order to watch US Netflix elsewhere in the world? Here is a list showing you what’s coming to American Netflix in August 2018.
I have just looked through this entire list, and I got to say… it is boring! There are some highlights here and there, but Netflix is turning more and more into a streaming service for their very own products. Way more than 50% of the content on this list is supposed to be Original Netflix content. That is great for those who want to watch that kind of content, but for those of us who want to watch our favorite TV series (from other networks), or a new great Hollywood movie, US Netflix isn’t the place to go.

A few thoughts about the new arrivals
If I had to spend time on US Netflix in August, I would probably wait for the arrival of The Good Place season 2. This NBC series will only turn available on August 28th, so it would be a long time waiting for this to come. I have watched the complete first season of this series with Ted Danson and Kirsten Bell, and it is quite nice to watch, so I wouldn’t mind watching the second season as well.
Another series I would like to watch is Ozark. The great thing is that I haven’t watched the first season yet either, so I could start watching the first season of Ozark now, and on August 31st be ready for the arrival of the second season.
For those who want to watch a good movie, go somewhere else. There are some great stuff coming to HBO Now in August, so if you have such a subscription, that might be more interesting. But, Gran Torino might be interesting if you haven’t seen it yet. Or you could simply do a “crazy” thing and just start watching some original Netflix movie (of which there will be many in August) and hope to be lucky.
One last movie worth mentioning is The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. This is the first of the three movies in the series, and it is a fantastic movie if you haven’t seen it yet.
Another alternative in August 2018
I have mentioned HBO Now, but why spend money on a plus subscription there? Instead, read these instructions on how to get access to Canadian Netflix. They will get a lot of original Netflix content on Netflix in Canada as well, but they will also get some awesome blockbusters. I will publish an article on those movies very soon, but I can just mention some of them here. First of all, you can watch Liam Neeson in the role as a commuter (the name of the movie is The Commuter). It isn’t a fantastic movie, but it is a nice action movie for those who like Liam Neeson in such a role.
Den of Thieves is another new movie with lots of action that will come to Canadian Netflix. I haven’t watched it yet, but hope to do so in the near future.
And then, I should, of course, mention Downsizing. This is a quite new movie with Matt Damon, in which he gets downsized. What is life like in a much smaller universe? I have watched the movie, and even though I found it to be quite boring, it is still great to see it on Netflix already.
